Dark Red Velvet with Marshmallow Buttercream

These are another red velvet trial. Please pardon the bat Halloween wrappers, sometimes I just use up what I got! I started with my classic chocolate fudge cake since it is so yummy, and then turned it red. This is way more chocolaty than regular red velvet, which has just a smidge of cocoa, but I just had to see what would happen. The marshmallow buttercream is one of my favorite frostings. It is buttery and practically perfect!





Classic Red Velvet

These cupcakes are a trial for a friend who is getting married soon and would like cupcakes as her wedding favors. She wants red velvet but of course there are so many ways to do it! This cupcake has the white velvet frosting instead of the 'normal' cream cheese icing you usually see now.  I was given this recipe for the frosting by a friend who got it from her Southern grandma, so I'm pretty sure it's the original way red velvet was made....maybe not...who knows? Who cares? It's delicious either way!
